Mt. Rainier taken from the Muir Snowfield. Mt. Rainier National Park, Washington State, Mountain Climbing Adventure!
Mount Rainier, 14,411 feet. Independent Climbing Party - 1999 Mount Rainier National Park

A Mount Rainier Climbing team assembed from the Internet attempted The Mountain on June 10/11, 1999 with 2 of the 5 successfully summiting. However, thousands attempt every year and about half succeed. And "success" does not always mean reaching the top. Each team member below gives an account of their climb on the popular Muir/Dissapointment Cleaver Route with tidbits of advice and wisdom for the beginner and intermediate climber. Be sure to visit the photo archive page with lots of great images of Rainier and climbing, and glance at some of the books that different team members used prior to prepare for the climb. Though this is a personal site for the team, we are honored to share it with you and hope you find something helpful for your summit attempt. Check out the links page for various on-line Mt. Rainier resources that we found to be very helpful in preparing for our ascent to include the bulletin board where we all originally met in cyberspace!
